The Appalachian Trail (or simply “the AT” to which it is commonly referred) is the nation’s premier hiking path, stretching 2,000 miles from Maine to Georgia. The Appalachian Trail parallels the first 100 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway to a point just north of Roanoke VA. It meanders in and out of parkway overlooks at more than a dozen overlooks marked with the AT symbol. The trail is marked by a series of white “blazes” that appear at intervals on trees, boulders and other waypoints.
