At Milepost 120.4 on the Blue Ridge Parkway you can find Roanoke Mountain Campground with 74 tents and 30 RV/trailer sites, with 3 sites that are handicap-accessible. All sites are first come, first served. Facilities include water, comfort stations with flush toilets and sinks but no showers or hook-ups.
The nearby Roanoke Mountain Loop Road (no access from campground) offers a 4-mile one-way drive with five overlooks offering views of the city of Roanoke and Mill Mountain, as well as access to the Roanoke Mountain Summit Trail. The road is typically open from sunrise to sunset from late spring - late fall. Due to steep grades, vehicles over 20 feet are not permitted. Some picnic tables are available at the overlooks on the scenic loop.
