A moderate to strenuous hike, this 16.3 mile (one-way) trail begins at the Mt. Pisgah Parking Area and descends 3,681 feet to Bent Creek near NC 191. There are multiple access points that allow you to hike as much or as little of the total distance as you choose. The original trail was constructed by George W. Vanderbilt of Biltmore Estate fame as a means to connect the Asheville estate to his Buck Springs hunting lodge just below the summit of Mt. Pisgah. Today, this trail is part of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.
